Melissa Kong,  M.D.

Dr. Melissa Kong, a Cardiologist/Electrophysiologist with Silicon Valley Cardiology, joined the Sequoia Hospital Foundation’s Board of Directors in 2013. Dr. Kong attended Princeton University where she graduated summa cum laude before completing medical school at Duke University. At Duke she completed an internship and residency in internal medicine, a fellowship in cardiovascular disease, and a subspecialty fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology.  She is an author on over 30 peer reviewed articles and remains actively involved in clinical research trials, currently serving as a member of an international steering committee for a multinational clinical trial.  She also serves as an advisory board member and/or consultant to several public and private health care companies.

Dr. Kong is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and cardiac electrophysiology.  Dr. Kong has expertise in management and ablation of complex arrhythmias including atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia, and ventricular tachycardia; management and implantation of cardiac devices such as loop recorders, PA pressure sensors, pacemakers, defibrillators, cardiac resynchronization therapy; and laser lead extraction.  Dr. Kong also performs venous ablation for symptomatic chronic venous insufficiency and treats patients with all varieties of cardiovascular problems including coronary artery disease, heart failure, and valvular disease.
