President’s Message

It is in the spirit of gratitude that I wish to express my thanks to the Dignity Health Sequoia Hospital family for making me feel so welcomed during my first year as President of the Sequoia Hospital Foundation.  It is my honor to work on behalf of our community of caregivers and patients each day.

Dignity Health Sequoia Hospital has a storied history of exceptional care and is recognized as being among the top hospitals in the nation.  We’re proud of these honors and the level of patient care they represent but are also focused on how we will continue to deliver exceptional care in the coming years.  Over the last twelve months, the Foundation has achieved a seamless alignment with hospital and physician leaders to define strategically what care at Sequoia will look like in the future and how the Foundation and our community donors will be a part of that vision.

Foundation integration in the earliest levels of planning allows for aspirational program development, incorporating key donor support. During the last year, the Foundation launched a series of evening Salons to introduce our Foundation community to our visionary physician leaders and to share how, with their partnership, advancements in the areas of cardiology and oncology, for example, will be brought to Sequoia and those we serve.

Indeed, for the Sequoia Hospital Foundation this past year has been a time to connect our rich history with our exciting future.  The October launch of our 1950 Sequoia Society brought together grateful patients and community members who have remembered Sequoia in their estate planning with a gift for the hospital’s future.  Our 34th Annual Invitational Golf Tournament, the event that launched our Foundation in the early 1980s, this year raised significant funding for the exciting future of the hospital’s Heart and Vascular Institute. The Dr. William Kennett Memorial Nursing Scholarship Reception honored eight future caregivers as they received scholarships named for one of Sequoia’s early physician leaders.

Our donors – individuals like Frank and Ted Hannig and Ida and Joseph Rodondi  - continue to help define what this hospital means to our community.  Sequoia’s legacy is impactful and its future is full of unimaginable promise.

I am excited by the work that lies ahead and grateful for your dedicated support.

Thank you,
