(September 2018) — On World Gratitude Day, and every day, how will you say thanks to the people you are grateful for in life? 

Gratitude for life’s little moments of kindness can improve your life as much as it improves the life of the person you’re showing gratitude towards. When we feel grateful we are happier, we are more positive, and we are more content.

Here are a few ways to show your gratitude for someone and to brighten your day!

1. Pass on kindness

As you are going through your day, look for opportunities to pass on a random act of humankindness. Mow your neighbor’s lawn or pick up that piece of litter. Acts of kindness will brighten your day and someone else’s!

2. Send a note

Tell a family member, friend, or coworker why you’re thankful for them. This will show and tell them they are appreciated and it will remind you of what you have to be grateful for!

3. Give a gift

Bring a co-worker who has helped you with a project a small gift—their favorite candy or a coffee—this small gesture will show them that their assistance is appreciated.

4. Share what you’re thankful for

After a day of work or school, share three things you are thankful for with your family or roommates. It can be as simple as, “I’m thankful I caught the bus!” Take a moment to highlight the positives of the day, no matter how big or small. This will increase your happiness and positivity and let others know what you are grateful for.

5. Acknowledge service

Take a moment to say “thank you” to the people who deliver your mail, pick up the trash, or deliver a package. Acknowledge the people who provide a service that often gets overlooked. This will show them that you appreciate what they do to make your life easier.
