Mary Christen-Crighton, Sequoia Hospital’s Director of Quality Services, was recently recognized with the Foundation’s first Richard Valente Service Award for her ongoing contributions of time, talent and treasure in support of our mission.  The award was named in memory of Richard Valente, a beloved volunteer who, for more than ten years, came to the hospital seven days a week to help care for our patients and our staff.

A long-time Sequoia Hospital employee, Mary has been a loyal donor to the Foundation for the past thirty-four years, supporting the purchase of countless pieces of life-saving equipment and, more recently, contributing to the campaign in support of Sequoia’s new patient pavilion.

Within the hospital, Mary leads by example and helped inspire her department colleagues to achieve 100% participation in our recent employee giving campaign. Outside of the office, she has given of her time as well, volunteering regularly at our annual golf tournaments and other events.
